Hantavirus Cases in Washington State
Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS) is a rare but fatal disease that can be contracted when humans are exposed to rodents that are infected. Exposure can happen through an infectious bite, touching mouth and eyes after coming in contact with a nest or droppings that may contain the virus, and also through breathing in contaminated dust that gets stirred up in the air. Although it’s rare, it is still possible to contract this disease. Unfortunately, there were some reported cases in Washington State this year. If you’ve seen signs of rats or mice in your home, give Critter Control of Seattle a call so we can help keep you and your family safe!
